A 31-year-old man from Cadillac, MI, named Christopher Robert Dykgraaf, has been arrested for child abuse by Michigan State Police, following a scheduled home visit by Child Protective Services (CPS) in Kent County, Grand Rapids.

The arrest took place on Tuesday, October 24, when a CPS worker conducted a home visit and noted that the child in question had bruises on their face and chest, as well as an injury to the lower lip area. The CPS worker’s observations prompted further investigation.

Upon interviewing the child at the child advocacy center in the Grand Rapids area, the investigation revealed that the injuries had occurred during an incident at a campground in Haring Township, located in Wexford County.

Officials interviewed Dykgraaf, and the findings of the investigation were subsequently turned over to the Wexford County Prosecutor’s Office. This led to the arrest of Christopher Robert Dykgraaf, who has been charged in the 84th District Court in Wexford County with one count of child abuse third degree.

Dykgraaf was granted a PR (personal recognizance) bond, and his next scheduled court appearance is set for November 7 at 2 p.m. This case highlights the importance of CPS visits in ensuring the safety and well-being of children in potentially abusive situations.
