A confrontation with Troy police on November 21, 2023, has led to charges against two individuals in connection with the theft of a vehicle reported stolen from Southfield. The incident unfolded when a license plate reader alerted authorities to the stolen vehicle, initiating a series of events that culminated in one suspect being shot.
According to police reports, officers attempted to corner the stolen vehicle on Big Beaver Road, near Daley Drive, as it came to a stop at a traffic light just before 3:30 p.m. The driver of the stolen vehicle allegedly drove at a police officer who had exited his patrol cruiser to make an arrest. In response, the officer discharged five shots, striking the suspect once.
The wounded suspect, identified as 25-year-old Cecil Bobby Pulliam, managed to drive a short distance before colliding with another vehicle. Pulliam was promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment and remains hospitalized.
A passenger in the stolen vehicle, identified as 20-year-old Lajuan Lamarr Jefferson Jr., sustained minor injuries during the incident, attributed to Pulliam’s attempt to flee the traffic stop by ramming into obstacles. Jefferson has been released from the hospital and is currently in police custody.
Westbound Big Beaver Road experienced a six-hour closure as law enforcement conducted an investigation into the confrontation.
