Detroit, MI – Jamere Miller, the man accused of the tragic killing of his ex-girlfriend, Patrice Wilson, as she left her shift as a nurse at a Detroit hospital in May, has entered a guilty plea in court.

On Tuesday, Miller, 36, agreed to a plea deal, admitting guilt to one count of second-degree murder. The sentencing agreement entails a prison term of 35 to 60 years for his role in the death of Patrice Wilson.

The dreadful incident occurred shortly before 8 a.m. on May 13 when Miller, disguised in a woman’s wig, hat, and glasses, laid in wait for the 29-year-old nurse outside Detroit Receiving Hospital on St. Antoine Street. As Wilson entered her vehicle after completing her shift, Miller approached the back passenger side of the SUV and discharged multiple shots, resulting in her fatal injuries. He then hastily assumed the driver’s seat and fled the scene.

Tragically, Patrice Wilson’s lifeless body was discovered in the rear of her SUV in Novi later that day. Miller turned himself in to the Detroit police the following day.

Authorities assert that Wilson was merely attempting to live her life and extricate herself from a relationship that she recognized as detrimental.

“Patrice Wilson, by all accounts, was a hardworking woman, a devoted mother, a close-knit family member, and highly regarded in her capacity as a nurse at the Detroit Medical Center. She was simply trying to live her life, work diligently, and disentangle herself from a relationship she knew was detrimental,” remarked Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy during Miller’s arraignment in June.

Jamere Miller is slated to be sentenced on November 1. At the time of his sentencing, charges of first-degree and felony murder will be dismissed, along with five counts of felony firearm and one count each of carjacking, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
