Macomb County, MI – A Detroit woman, Monique Darnita-Marie Moses, is facing a slew of charges after allegedly ramming her vehicle into a police car and attacking an officer in Macomb County, according to officials.

Moses, 35, was arraigned on Monday in the 39th District Court in Roseville, with the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office listing a total of nine charges against her.

The charges include third-degree fleeing police, assault with a dangerous weapon, assaulting a police officer, malicious destruction of police property, driving without auto insurance, and driving with a suspended license.

Her bond was set at $100,000, and she is scheduled for her next court appearance on November 15. A preliminary examination has been set for November 22.

If convicted, Moses could face up to five years in prison for fleeing from the police, up to four years for assault with a dangerous weapon, up to four years for assaulting a police officer, and up to four years for malicious destruction of police property. The driving charges are categorized as misdemeanors.

The charges are a result of an incident that occurred in Fraser on a Saturday. Officers attempted to pull Moses over due to her vehicle having an expired license plate. During the traffic stop, she reportedly refused to comply with the officers’ requests.

Allegedly, she put her vehicle in reverse gear and struck a police car, narrowly missing officers. She then exited her car, ran, and resisted officers when they tried to place her in custody.

The suspect was later transported to a hospital. While at the hospital, she is accused of assaulting two officers, inflicting significant injuries, even tearing out one officer’s hair.

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido emphasized the dangers that law enforcement officers face daily, even during seemingly routine encounters. He stressed the importance of cooperation during interactions with the police, stating that resisting arrest and assaulting officers not only endangers the individuals involved but also poses a potential threat to the safety of the community.
