In a recent turn of events, Lansing police are on the lookout for Zachary Philip Duling, the alleged culprit who reportedly struck an officer with a car on Wednesday. The officers aimed to engage with Duling regarding a Jackson County probation violation warrant, with the 30-year-old having evaded Jackson County officers a few days prior.

Described as 5-foot-9 and weighing 200 pounds, Duling found himself at the center of an encounter on the 300 block of West Saginaw Street around 6:22 p.m. Officers approached Duling and a witness seated in a white 2015 Chevy Cruze in a driveway. However, the situation escalated quickly.

When instructed to show his hands, Duling chose a different path. Ignoring commands, he reversed the car, prompting officers to intervene. As the officers confronted him, Duling allegedly drove forward, leaving an officer trapped between two vehicles. In response, the officer discharged his firearm, but Duling managed to flee the scene.

Fleeing westward, Duling left the injured officer, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, requiring hospitalization. The current status of Duling and the witness’s well-being remains unknown.

The Search Widens

With a Michigan license plate number of EBW 5891, Duling was last seen driving the white sedan. Authorities suspect he and the witness might still be in the Lansing, Jackson, or Ann Arbor areas. The incident is now under investigation by both the Lansing Police and the Michigan State Police.

Seeking Cooperation

In efforts to bring Duling to justice, Lansing police, Michigan State Police, and other local authorities are seeking information from the public. Anyone with relevant details is urged to contact Ingham County Central Dispatch at (517) 272-6026 or Crime Stoppers at (517) 483-7867.
