In a recent incident, a 60-year-old resident of Mount Clemens found himself facing attempted murder charges. The altercation occurred when he allegedly stabbed his neighbor with a pocket knife during a heated argument on Friday.
The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office received a distress call from the 100 block of Cass Ave., near Cherry Street, just minutes before 6:30 p.m. on November 3rd. The call reported a stabbing in an apartment complex following a dispute between two neighbors.
According to deputies on the scene, the victim, a 53-year-old man, approached Mark Wallace, a 60-year-old resident of Mount Clemens, who was using a grill in the common area of the apartment complex. An argument erupted between the two.
Video footage of the incident, as reported by WDIV, captured the moment when the victim appeared to accidentally knock over Wallace’s grill. In retaliation, Wallace allegedly used a pocket knife to slash the tires of the victim’s moped. The situation escalated further, with Wallace ultimately stabbing the victim twice.
Law enforcement officers recovered the pocket knife from Wallace’s apartment, and he was promptly arrested at the scene. He was then taken into custody and booked at the Macomb County Jail.
The victim received medical treatment at a local hospital for injuries that were fortunately non-life threatening.
In light of these events, Wallace now faces charges of assault with intent to murder and malicious destruction of property. A judge has set his bond at $50,000, without the option of a 10% cash/surety bond.
