A 55-year-old resident of Southfield was arrested after allegedly brandishing a gun and a fake FBI badge during a confrontation.
The dramatic episode unfolded on Wednesday around 10:20 am near the intersection of Mound Road and Arden. Warren Patrol Officers responded to reports of possible shots fired during a road rage incident. A concerned motorist informed dispatch that a male occupant of a white Toyota SUV had fired at his vehicle as he attempted to pass the suspect on Mound Rd. Adding to the gravity of the situation, the victim reported that the suspect also displayed a gold law-enforcement-type badge.
Responding swiftly, Warren Patrol Officers spotted the suspect vehicle heading southbound on Mound Rd. just north of 13 Mile. Conducting a traffic stop, officers apprehended the lone male occupant, detaining him pending further investigation.
Inside the suspect’s vehicle, officers discovered a BB/pellet pistol, along with a fake FBI badge and credentials. During the arrest process, the suspect admitted to being involved in the road rage incident.
Commissioner Dwyer emphasized the fortunate outcome that no injuries occurred during this senseless incident. He urged caution in such situations, advising motorists to pull over and call 911 if encountering a hostile driver rather than escalating tensions, as road rage incidents can quickly escalate to dangerous and potentially deadly situations.
