Troy, MI – A Troy man is facing legal trouble after being apprehended for suspected drunk driving right after leaving the gym. The incident unfolded at the LA Fitness on Big Beaver Road in Troy, prompting concerned employees to alert the authorities.
According to the Troy Police Department, employees at the fitness center made the call shortly before 4 p.m. last Wednesday. They reported an individual who, in their assessment, appeared to be either intoxicated or experiencing a medical issue. The person in question had just left the gym’s parking lot in a 2009 Dodge Caravan.
Troy police officers swiftly responded to the report. They located the van near the exit of the shopping plaza and initiated a traffic stop. Upon engaging with the 36-year-old driver, whose identity remains undisclosed, officers observed several indicators of possible intoxication.
The individual displayed watery and bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and emanated the scent of alcohol, according to law enforcement officials. Subsequently, the man reportedly failed several field sobriety tests and declined to participate in a preliminary breath test. As a result, he was taken into custody and transported to the Troy Police Lock-up Facility.
Medical personnel at the facility conducted a blood test to ascertain the driver’s blood alcohol content. The case has now been handed over to the Troy Detective Bureau, who will await the blood test results before proceeding with appropriate legal actions. At this stage, the specific charges the man may face remain unclear.
